How to use Feng Shui to Enhance the Energy in your Home Learning Spaces
With all 3 girls at home this year learning virtually (they are 21, 13, and 11 years of age), I have been busy getting their learning areas ready. I am focused on creating the energy that will provide the most optimal learning environment for them (and me).
My go-to tool is Feng Shui whenever I need to shift the energy in our space. It is quick and easy. I have used specific Feng Shui cures to create spaces in their rooms to encourage focus and learning and to support their personal energy too!
I know that when the energy in your home is flowing, it not only creates a shift in your life but it impacts your personal energy. This is what Feng Shui does.
Our home has always been a haven for us. As the keeper of the energy and a Feng Shui-er for over 14 years, I have made our home a space where everyone can renew their energy, have some fun and create the lives they want most.
With this new development of all the girls learning virtually this year, the energy in our home needed to shift a little bit. It was important to create a flow of energy that supported their academic learning along with being a peaceful space to rest and renew.
So, while I was busy Feng Shui’ing our space in preparation for the school year and my virtual learners, I realized that I could share some Feng Shui tips and tricks with you as well so that you can optimize the energy in your space so that your children (and you) have the best learning experience possible this year.
It’s not just how they learn, it’s how they feel learning as well.
By creating an environment with energy that supports their personal energy, you will assist them in their academic journey as well.
Feng Shui is all about the flow of energy. There are certain colors and elements (wood, fire, earth, metal and water) that vibrate with different energies. By placing these colors and elements in different areas of your home, you not only get a positive flow of energy but you support different areas of your life too.
When I am Feng Shui’ing mini-environments, in my case their desk areas, I am choosing the colors and elements based on which ones will help support the energy needed in that space so that they can learn and focus more effectively.
So, whether you are creating a whole new dedicated school area in your home or creating a space in your child’s room for them to learn, these are my Top 6 Feng Shui tips for the space:
1. Place a Bagua Map (I call it an Energy Map) under each desk or table.
The Bagua map, which is what you use when you Feng Shui your home, represents balanced energy. It will bring this balanced vibration to your child’s workspace. You will want to tape the map face up with the Purpose area closest to the chair under the table or desk. Click here for a printable FOUNDATIONAL Feng Shui Energy Map.
2. When sitting at their desk or table, make sure your child has a clear view of the door. This is called the power position in Feng Shui.
If you cannot move the chair, table or desk to make this happen, put a mirror ro something shiny behind the desk or on the desk to reflect the door behind them. This helps to provide a more powerful position and will make your child feel more settled and comfortable at their workspace.
3. Hang a 30 mm Feng Shui crystal from the ceiling above the chair at each desk or in the center of the learning room.
Feng Shui crystals are like disco balls for energy. They move the energy around in a space. It’s important to keep the energy flowing in a learning environment. When hung above a workspace, the energy of the crystal promotes focus and retention of knowledge.
4. You will want to add some earth energy to the space. Earth energy is very grounding. This is especially important for younger children. It creates a more peaceful environment that will help calm their busy energy.
Adding earth energy can be as simple as a few special rocks or gemstones or earthen décor on the desk or table.
(If you have a learner that is maybe a little too calm, you can add something metal instead to the desk area. The energy of metal is more uplifting and will provide the learner with a space that is vibrating with a higher energy. This will help to boost their personal energy.)
5. Add some wood energy to the space. A plant would be a great addition to the area. Not only does it represent growth but it also has great impact on the air quality in the room.
(Feng Shui Tip: You could add a plant in an earthen pot and then you’ve added both wood and earth energy with one item. Feng Shui is this easy!)
6. Be sure to add something fun to the desk area. It can provide a quick distraction when needed and also provoke imaginative thinking along with the vibration of creativity, which is always required when learning!
These 6 Feng Shui cures will automatically shift the energy in the room and for your child. When you add in different colors and elements, your personal energy responds to these things.
Continue to adjust these Feng Shui cures as needed. You may find that you need more earth energy or a little more metal added in.
FYI…
The other way that I love to shift the energy in a space is with essential oils. The citrus oils along with peppermint and eucalyptus are great to lift spirits and increase energy while frankincense and lavender will create a calmer environment. Diffuse these oils daily or spritz them in the room when a shift in energy is needed.
